I thought it was a really big mess until I saw the animals hidden here and there. Those are so cute! I can't really see them clearly, but are you going with the idea of "十二生肖"？ Also, are you trying to even out the colors in "the big mess"? I mean like trying to make sure no part of the whole "mess" stands out more? Because it seems to me that it can be more interesting if there are variations in the lines, like maybe some parts have thicker lines than others, and maybe a little more contrast in the black and white spaces.
